How Chrysler Helped Win World War II

Everyone knows that the popular off-roading SUV, the Jeep Wrangler, traces its origins back to WWII. The designs that became the modern Wrangler trace their origins to the all-purpose four-wheel-drive vehicles built for the U.S. Army in the 1940's.

But, did you know during that same period, Chrysler built more tanks than the entire German army?

The Chrysler-operated Detroit Arsenal Tank Plant produced around 25,000 tanks, beginning with the stop-gap "Grant" tank, and switching over to the more advanced and iconic "Sherman" tank in 1942.
